My wife just bought a new rug and it was bigger than expected and needed to go under my 360 stand. I havn't filled the tank yet so what the hell right, just lift that end and put the rug under..........

Apparently the rug is expensive :screwy: and it needs to be in my fish room LOL and it can't get wet PERIOD.

Well I always wanted to try this so here it is. I got one of those shower bed membrane rubber liner, very heavy duty stuff, an put it under the sump, pumps and all the plumbing under that stand. Kinda made a tub out if it. The sides go up about 6" all the way around. I don't expect it to hold 6" of water but it will hold 2" easy and if I spill more than that there's a big problem.

Here's some pics, let me know what you guys think?

nice, looks like it will work well. i tried to do the same thing with those cabinet liners...like the clear plastic you put down so your wet glasses and plates won't ruin the wood of the cabinet. They won't work nearly as well as what you've done. looks good.

yup- looks like you got it covered.
pun much?

It's a shame that the 'expensive rug' will still be located that close or underneath the tank. I love the idea of the rubber membrane to catch under the tank drips and potential spills but I find that no matter how careful I am, I occasionally still get water on the floor, wall to wall carpet in my house.

Is there any chance the rug can be moved further from the tank OR relocation of the existing tanks in that room?

Good job, i have to agree with deeda and what about when it comes to the fish splashing( i don't know the kind of fish)--just asking.

amazing fishroom, but over time that rug is going to be a problem. splashes, drips etc are unavoidable and you will get mold/mildew in the rug over time. and the musty odor too.

when I lived at my parents place I had my fishtanks in the basement on carpet. man, when we pulled that up to replace it you should have seen the mold under it, and I was always careful about drips etc. I used to put mats down over top when I did my water changes but still, a bit here, a bit there over the years creates a problem.

I would try and relocate the rug. because once it gets mouldy down the road you will have to either cut the rug out from under your setup or move your tank to pull it up again. big job.

its looks like a great rug, nice and thick, but that works against you for water drips. the water soaks down right away and thats where it gets mouldy.

best of luck and I love your setups.
