THanks Hulon. That sounds different from what I read on the other post, but maybe I am mis=interpreting something:

Post #66 by Hayn is the one I am looking at. The description of what he sees & doesn't see is what made me think looking at the ocelot meant a lot...???

I have seen a lot of that said through out posts. That is why I wanted to start this thread. Not to say that "a lot" are asia bred but rather talk to us & tell us what it is that shows that. Hayn was the one in the Ipatinga post that pointed out the ocelot observation. Hayn- Can you explain a little bit what you look for when saying WC or not. I thought you said you look for a complete round ocelot on the tail...?
It's not the whole ocelets story, its all about if Brazil isn't exporting bass altogether. To my understanding, Brazil and Venezuela are not exporting bass. Since Taiwan and Singapore and other countries can get bass that we (The USA) can't get, "they" are breeding them and selling them as "wild". Granted, they can be wild, but wouldn't you think the bass would cost more then what they are sold for? Just look at the rep of Wes and Jeff Rapps, wouldn't you think that the two of the most HIGHLY respected cichla importers would have jumped on this importing of "rare" cichla? I mean come on now, Wes got interm's in this year. The first in six years. And, kelberi season is in October-November time frame. Look at Rapps old threads of when wild kelberis are available, you will find a pattern that the wilds bass are imported about about October- November time frame (After the rainy season). All the bass that I owned and have owned came from Wes and Rapps.

I don't think the ocellet is a perfect identifier, my ipatinga has a perfect one and Im pretty sure he's wc, and so does one of my azuls. But correct me if Im wrong but from pics I've seen I don't think the Og Wc Bahia's had perfect ocellets...They had more like a multiple ocellet.

I heard brazil grants limited business owners permits for export of the tucanare. Does anyone know if that is correct or not?

Certain states of Brazil does permit the export of some fish, but not to much as of cichla wise.

Sorry to say Guys i really think alot of the recent Imports are from asia NOT wild caught

THIS!!!!

This is why a lot of the "OG's" are not scooping up all the newly "wild caught" bass.
Quality over quantity.

Hayn, your my bro but I have to question this....a few months ago you and G were trying to get Singapore bred kels and now that they're here you guys don't like them? The RA's from Discus Origins I thought were supposed to be from Stone's...http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?530383-Who-wants-sg-kelberi

Yes, I was trying to bring them in......Just as my own accord. (just to establish a relationship with stones and others, Koji as well.) I was going to do this import as my own. I was planing on giving some away as the import stock grew. Maybe even sell a few, but it never happened. I'm not hating on anyone bring them in, But I DO have a problem of them calling the bass "WILD CAUGHT". I knew where my bass where coming from and I WOULD NEVER label them wild caught.
