WC Ceara?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say there is no way to tell either but if they came from asia f1, those fish look like they will be stunners for sure. I think if you are happy with your fish then it doesnt matter your 400 gallon tank is awesome with the stock you have are they all "wc" probably not. I look at my fish and can honestly tell you I probably only have 1 "wc" and bought some that were sold as wc that are not. Personally I think with all these threads of the fish you purchased we will all learn more and hopefully keep venders honest. Keep them coming tomka! :)

This is all good stuff. The kinda discussion that does us all good. As some of you know I imported some rays from The Netherlands. I am currently working on importing some cichla from Brazil after the rain season. I'll keep you all posted. & as has been said on here, I can only try to do my homework & hope the people in Brazil I am dealing with are doing me right!

They are looking good wether CB or WC. All we can do is go by the sellers word but if the fish looks great to you then who cares if its a CB or wild. With kels the only way to know how they with turn out is wait them out lol. Alot are looking for the whole wow factor in them as quick as possible but it takes them years to show. Just see how they progress compared to the others you got.... That's saying if you don't get sick of the waiting game lol.

Yeah I am learning about the cichla quickly. I am definitely starting to form my own opinions about what I have & who I got them from. Some good & some bad. But these 2 I like. Bottom line with me is honesty. If I feel like I was wronged, my money won't be going to that vendor again. Now I know why so many people are dedicated to Rapps' stuff b/c they know he represents his stuff accurately.

Nice Kelberi, but it looks like cb and definitely not a Cerea

enlighten me, how can you tell a w/c fish from a f1.f2 etc?i wonder if theres info out there about where these really came from? I seriously doubt they are w/c but that's my gut feeling.i have nothing to back that up.
Your gut feeling is good enough :D

I totally agree with you!

It is not possible to tell wild caught fish from F1 F2... Possibly F3 you will start to see the fish with less coloration because the genes are getting weak, but it's impossible to tell a wild caught from a F1. As for who to buy fish off of, you just have to go with trust because who knows, the some suppliers in Belem don't care, they will false advertise fish to vendors. They could say there wild but they are really F1, or F2 you'll never know either.. So if your one of those people that are so concerned on your wild fish really being wild, then the only 100% way to know for sure that you have wild fish is too go to brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, ect and go catch them your self ;) that's really the only way you'll know.

My focus on the Wild caught or not is more about honesty as is in all business. We pay high $ for fish we hope will look like ones we have seen posted as Wild Caught adults. Vendors who sell get big $'s by labeling as such. So, they should be held accountable by us consumers if it ends up not being so. We turn to the experienced cichla keepers for knowledge & often hear news we don't like, but it's all good if we do the right thing & demand from the sellers in 1 of 2 ways. Either you have to NEVER buy from them again or work out some sort of deal to make things right. There are thieves in all types of business. Some last a while but most do not. They are all about the $ and not developing long term relationships so if we don't put up with it they will not exist very long. And don't listen to the excuses they start to give if you call them out!
