WC & Filter Question

Thx for the info..
Does that basically mean more wc is better?
I know I need to add dechlorinator & salt but is BB liquid necessary(the brand is nutrafin:cycle)?

Cycle is worthless, the only "instant cycle" bacteria that probably works is Bio-Spira. They call it something else now (anyone know?). You definitely do not need to add salt either. That's a hard-dying myth that freshwater fish need salt "as a preventative". Do your own reseach (ie I'm not going to debate it with the next 4 posters). I don't think they sell Bio-Spira here.. also, the lfs mentioned that Cycle is the "best" they have..

bio spira is now called safestart or startsafe, forgot the name. it's made by tetra. i used it with 4 jd's and they are all still alive. going on 3 weeks

Are they expensive? I bought Cycle for $10 a bottle(250ml)

Another healthy tank is your best source of BB. I use sponge filters to 'cold start' tanks without cycling them. If you run a sump or recirculating system you can keep a few running in that.

Nope, I don't have a sump.. Just a simple hob filter with a powerhead($10) that comes with the tank..

Add an AC110 then you should be good...keep up the W/C, 30% 1-2 times a week...

The Aqua Clear 110 is the King of the HOB filters...been around a long time...
