WC flower rays, Anything special i should know?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have never seen one at 36" disc... not saying they dont get that big, just have never seen one over 28" or so. My male seems to not be a fast grower... he is 10-11" and was 6.5" 14 months ago. he eats anything.

I just lost my female flower to my female mortro she took a big bite out of her..but when i got her in about a two months ago she was eating shrimp right off the bat.Other wc rays where way harder to get to eat.Try a little of everything and see what they go for and by the way i,m still gonna get another one just alot bigger lol

Because these are rare rays to breed in the hobby, Im assuming your male was WC too.
I hope mine come in around that size.
Was he eating anything right off the bat?

P.S. You have some amazing fish! love the tigrinus, thats going to be the next catfish i get

I hope you dont find any hooks in your rays. Mine was just unfortunatly 1 of the minority and dont mean to worry you. I have aquired 4 rays that are w/c since then and they are all clear, fit and healthy but i thought i would let you know about the hooks as clearly it can happen. Earthworms are a good starter food for flowers but try to get them on other foods as it can be hard to get them off them if fed to long.

Thanks!

Mine was tough to get to eat. He was wc. Would only eat "trout worms" "pan worms" he would not touch earthworms. Only ray i have ever seen not touch earthworm.. Slowly got him converted and will take pellets now. After u get them acclimated they are pigs!

400 Canadian

where did you get yours from for $400 in canada.i am looking for another flower or tiger thats acclimatized already.i got very lucky with mine was in a shop here for over a year and priced at $900 so nobody ever bought it.i offered him $400 and he took it!! i got mine eating strickly shrimp and smelts now took about a month of training and picking out shrimp.

i do beleive rays like flowers get massive but probably not in a home aquarium.i have never been to brazil but i do also beleive all rays get alot larger than we all think.
