I wish I could live no where near anyone. I would just keep doin it til someone of a higher authority actually tells you you can't. I had a similar issue the other day but it was with my dog. Apparently my neighbor has been feeding my dog all the time? I don't understand why considering I feed him and play with him every day but w.e he thinks just because he never sees me out at his kennel that I never feed him I guess ? It really offended me though
Only my garage is at street level. The house and plantings are uphill. There lies the problem, the driveway is all concrete up to the street. Doing water change at night won't work because that's when the complaint was made (8:05pm). The water runs down hill only 100ft and never pools because it's a hill. It never makes it to any street drains. Pretty much dries within an hour but still the rude complaint. I guess when your messing with the environment people will attack but yet they are willing to overlook other rules like illegal parking. They have a huge boat parking in the dirt which I've never complained about. And no, I will not pump the water into their boat. We just got to all get along. Thanks for the suggestions.
Just pump it into the grass instead of the driveway so it doesn't run off for the mean time. Then, go down to city hall and see what their take on it is. Get a permit if you have to. I don't think the law will be against you on this one.
If u have a down pipe from the gutters on your garage you could tap into it and add a bit of pvc or something and just pump into that! Might be a stupid idea but it sounds good in my head!!
QUOTE=kendragon;6197742]I just got a nasty letter from a neighbor complaining about run off from my property. She sited that it is illegal because it washes toxins into the storm drains which led to the bay. I looked up the city code and there are exceptions like washing driveways, personal cars, pool water but aquarium water was not listed. I live on a hill and *** rolls down hill. What should I do?[/QUOTE]
ok so i guess i'm not the average bear here on intelligence...but if you're able to wash your cars with soap and let it run into the drain, fill your pools with shock/chlorine and algaecide then drain it into a drain, and even wash your driveway.... then what in the **** is wrong with water that is clean besides fro a little bit of fish poop....lol
ESPECIALLY if it is leading to the bay, where FISH live...lol
Your washing your driveway with used fish water, you just care for the environment. I see no issue here, if cops/city council etc come and ask what your doing just tell em your washing your drive.
Find your home's sewer line cleanout and drain into that going forward.
It's annoying that your neighbor is being so difficult and rude, but you are going to have to live with them, so firing back with anything that is going to escalate the issue is only going to make your life even worse.
I would respond with a letter stating that it is only aquarium water, but that going forward it will be drained into your sewage line as opposed to the storm drain.
I would even go as far and sending flowers with the note.
Responding to hostility with kindness almost always leads to the best possible outcome.
