April when I bought him, true to size! He wasn't even two inches:

Two months later in July, he had grown to about 4 inches:

And today, 11 months later, barely 8 inches standard length (I don't feed him every day because I'm trying to bring out color):

My main tip is that Oscars are extremely messy fish. Make sure to have real good filtration and be ready to sweep the tank regularly.

They tend to gobble the food they are given and half of it comes right back out there gills. When I had oscars I also had smaller africans with them and they would typically wait for the oscars to eat and then feed offf the debris that comes out of their gills.

Do you have to starve them to bring out there colour is there another way? because i could'nt do that to him anyway my oscar is growing quite fast so yer hopefully by the end of this year he will be meduim size at the momet he is only about 17cm and about 7-9 cm deep so yer.

P.S nice oscars

i think im going to try the starving thing... mines just all black. maybe something will happen

But all black that is just so cool anyway i could'nt starve him he is in my room when he wants food he goes crazy and jumps at my face:nilly: for the food i think i will just wait because these new pellets are bringing out the colour slowly but surely.
