LMAO..not to sound "insensitive" but are ppl really offended by this??? Wow, it's not just chinesse that eat turtle..my Gramps was 100% Italian we had turtle all the time..snappin turtle, softshell turtle whatever. It was good, didn't really taste like chicken they have several "flavors" in them actually.

The pics of butchering it up were pretty icky yes...but I'm sure if you took pics of the butchering of a chicken, cow, pig whatever would look just as nasty really.

They at least have the sensitivity to kill the animal first...

that was a sweet turtle
I would take her in the blink of a eye. In a very ironic turn of destiny I just lost my monster river cooter a 13inch female:cry: I had this turt for like 16 years and she was such a beautifull animal. It happened all of the sudden, I was with her in the sunday, she looked normal and all, and now I came home to find her floating in the pond. Old age is a likely cause, she was already grown when I got her. My experience tells me it takes at least 12 years for a animal to grow to the size I got her in the first place so she must have lived about 28 years. I fell empty inside without her:( She was such a caracter. When I had visits this was one of the turtles people more often asked questions about, she really made herself noticed showing deep yellow and black. She was priceless. And so was that turtle. If people knew how inteligent, responsive, inquisitive and resilient they are, along side how long it takes to make such a animal grow to a large size like that they would treat them with much more respect. In the same time needed to make a breeding female I can create like 2 generacions of cows or 5 generacions of chickens. And a large animal like that taken from a wild populacion means much less babys haching every year.

Don't want to stir the pot but i didn't read this post before. Its great in theory, and with private farms maybe. But...there is nothing natural or humane about the practices of factory farms. The meat you buy at the store more than likely came from a conscious animal. So you can't really attack other cultures...
You dont get it...if we can all animal innecessary sufering should stop. Of corse if that animal is in danger of desapearing in the near future the urge is even bigger of corse. I however dont like factory farms one bit and the irony is that aint gonna make us healtier either. Pick your poison: antibiotics, inbreeding of the animals resulting in weak specimens, all sorts of hillness, etc. I here dont really have to worry about that much. I live in Portugal and here your comon bucher stake comes from animals raised all of their lifes in the field. The normal Portugese steak is a premium steak in the US. Factory farms are virtualy unsen here, at least with cows, pigs and sheep(dont know about the chickens but I think its rare). If we all agree factory farming is bad what about if we get of our posteriors and do something about it?

thats great and all, but things arent gonna change. yeah you can say get off your butts and do this and do that, but the fact is little will be done. youre not gonna change the ways of other cultures like those in China

Well the turtle looked dead to me, they are all alive before they kill them aren't they? I'm not for animal cruelity either but I'm sure they cut it's head off first after that it was most likely dead.
