i have regular play sand from home depot. it looks nice its not too dark or too bright but it is a pita to wash! ( fyi for those who wash your sand in a bucket... lose the bucket and get yourself a nice big pillowcase thats 100% cotton
just thought people should know this works better... lol) btw i have sand since i have a soft shelled turtle that burrows under the sand & bichirs & eels also so i thought it would be better then gravel... but they shift the sand so much poo always get under the sand... meaning i have to clean more often...-____- the reason i said its a pita... lol and another con is that it gets sucked up by the python =/... other than those i like sand
i wouldnt mind natural gravel thats rlly small/pebble size though with some nice river rocks & etc.
sand: play sand (dont remember the name was in a clear bag)
price: 4-6$ per 50lb
con: pita was wash since it takes long regardless if wash in a bucket or pillowcase though its a lot easier with a pillow case....
pro: looks really nice for the price & its cheap as hell.
other thoughts: not cool when you have to buy & carry 200lb+ of sand and load/unload multiple times alone... its too much work for a lazy person like me... lol
bump so others can see this thread as well.
