It would probably have to be around 30+" wide to be a 6' 300. Wouldn't it?

I can't remember who but an online pet store used to sell a 300 super deep system and I believe the depth was about 30 inches or so.

Yeah I figured that if a 150 is 6'x18" footprint you would have to double it to get a 300

Lol, I'm not as swift you apparently as I can barely remember tank sizes to have even guessed at it. I needed the site to tell me the dimensions for me to fathom it. Wish I could remember the site as it was a decent set-up at a fair price.

I've seen my share of tanks I guess it's just something natural I can look at a tank and know the size. 8 out 10 times I'm right. I also kicked around a ton of ideas for DIY builds that never happened.

Marineland makes the Deep Dimension tanks that are all 36" wide and come in 3, 4, 5, and 6 foot lengths for 150-300 gallons. Really nice but pretty high unless you can find a used one.

That's very true, dogofwar, a local aquarium society would be another great place, I wasn't aware of these until recently. I found one about a half hour from me, the North Jersey Aquarium Society, they meet every third thursday of the month at a Elk's lodge. They usually have a speaker and then a live auction which costs $5 to enter. From what I understand, it's a great place to buy and sell as well as network and learn from other locals. There's no reserve on anything and the seller and club usually split the profits. You can score items for a fraction of their original cost. I'll be going to my first one this thursday.

There are also local facebook groups for aquarium items (as well as groups for every other hobby). If you are on fb maybe you can find a local group. If not, maybe you can start one.
