Some of the deals on e bay in the UK are pretty good if you keep checking daily I managed to pick up a 5x2x2 very clean scratch free with a maple hood and stand (well built and solid) , and a double lighting unit with spare bulbs for £245 ;)
I do agree though some prices are outrageous
