i agree weeksi are the best looking bichirs. ive had my male for over 12 years and is one of the most active in my collection. his never gone for pellets either.and has always been very mellow the only aggression of seen from any type is male ornates never had a problem with females unless when i put a randy male in a breeding setup together she didnt like his attensions lol

let's see some pics of that 12 yo weeksii please.

my 6" weeksii eats pellets because that's all i feed. he's going from one side of the tank to another, bust more often stays under a sponge filter.

yes, pics please. how big is your weeksii?

I have two weeksii about the same size. The bigger one is very active and will swim around all the time. My problem with this one is that he only eats one or two piece of tilapia then continue to swim to the opposite end of the food. I like my weeksii to be big and not eating a lot annoys me.

The smaller weeksii I just acquired is not much of a swimmer. It's more of a log but will out eat most of my other bichirs around the same size. I like this guy and see potential of this weeksii being a beast. :-)

Mine is now at 8" on the ruler weeks ago

Nice weeksii aro. As far as activity goes. I have found weeksii activity goes up as they grow
My 5 year old was very inactive as a Juvenal as is my current grow out. Now my large weeksii is more active than my endi or laps

Thanks for that info Burbotman. Mine seems very 'young' in the way it acts when I compare it to my del. Almost as if it were not comfortable with itself yet. The del moves around so much it kind of forces the weeksii to move because the log pile gets shifted around.

I almost wished I went with an Ornate instead. But when I was researching I read that the weeksii were more 'mellow' and basically played well with others. This was important because the 210g is extremely peaceful with a large Pearsei and a school of red hook silver dollars. The ornates have a reputation of being more active but also can be a bit more aggressive.

DMD, you have a great looking young weeksii, you will not regret getting it! I would bet that as it grows you will see a more active fish and have a great looking monster in your tank
