day one he looked ok. even when i got home from work. its been 2 and half days since i found him and he looks much worse. he is not moving at all except for some gill movement. i dont think he is going to make it...
i really hope he pulls through, but at this point i am not very hopeful. i think the weeksii has become my fav bichir and now i am going to lose the only one i have...anyone have any weeksii bichirs they would be willing to sell in sacramento area?
i did put salt in the tank. He has been moved to the wet/dry sump so he wouldnt be in the main tank with the other fish. the water level in the sump is only about 6 inches high and his head is right at the surface and he is resting on some of the filter media. The current in the sump was too powerful for him so i put in a plastic lid that he has been resting against.
He is still breathing...but he looks really bad. his whole belly area is all red and he hasnt moved since i put him in the sump.
Just give him some time and hopefully he'll pull through. Just keep doing small water changes everyday and don't forget to add salt with the replacement water. These guys are tough SOB's. Do you have any pics of how he looks right now?
i am at work. when i left his underside was totally red and he can't keep himself upright. his back looks patchy from the missing slim coat. I can't imagine this fish pulling through at this point.
Don't give up on him yet. Their scales will get very red and they'll start peeling like a sunburn. This is completely normal and before you know it, he'll be better. Mine didn't move for a couple days after he was found and he was completely dried out when my mom found him.
