Any weight lifters on here? I mean above average lifters, like power lifters, body builders or strong men on here?

just wondering as im getting more into these sports particularly body building and strong men lifting.
As I am pretty stoked on recently hitting 465 on squat yesterday and getting bigger and bigger. Just wondering as I only know so much if anyone could give pointers or advice on diet and training routines..
My goal is to get to 215 with less than 8% body fat, naturally.. and I am only about 185-190 depending on how i train and my diet with about 14% body fat right now.. and it seems like i hit my plateau and can't seem to get passed it...

When you hit plateau change your routine. Eat a lot of protein like eggs, fish, beef, and chicken.

Agreed about changing routine. But when you train for mass, stick with the essential 3 compound movement of power-lifting. Bench, Squat, Deadlift.
I am sure you work hard on bench and squat but I can assure you if you beefed up on powerlifting deadlifts, both your bench and squat will increase automatically. When going heavy, it is essential to have a good spotter who will make you do forced reps in whichever lift you are pressing. Forced reps is taking your body out of its comfort zone and shocks muscles for new growth.

+1 for the above. Keep going with the core stuff, but change up reps and weight.

You wanna go big drop the reps and do high weight...low rest time in between. The forced reps will be huge in this, go a little higher than you feel comfortable and have your spotter help you finish if you dont think you can.

Plateauing sucks. Be careful though, sometimes your body just isnt cut out for more...I got some lower back and hip injuries from making myself go above and beyond as a football player. Ended this summer when I decided that I would rather play with fish than keep trying to squat more to play arena.

Yeah fleshy, I had to have back surgery due to all my years in powerlifting in my past. I was free squating at my best 655lbs and leg pressing around 1300lbs. But now I have paid the price with back surgery. I am all good now but dont want to or need to push those kinds of weight now. Although my current free weight bench press 1 rep max is 475lbs raw. I did that 3 days ago.:headbang2

I currently own some natural powerlifting records. PM me. I'll help you out.

Never really got into powerlifting, but was working out seriously 3-4x a week as a football player in the weightroom.

Actually did a workout for Hawaii the year after they lost the sugar bowl.

Played some semipro this past summer, got a call from an arena team this fall, didnt go.

475 is a dream. My best was 285 when I was a Junior in highschool. Then I tore up my shoulder...never went to the doctor, but never really pushed myself again after that. Got told that if I wanted to play college football I would have to have at least 2x surgeries on it.

sometimes better to be healthy with a good shoulder than to be super strong with a bad shoulder. Now I feel its best to listen to your body and train by how it feels and at what power level you are at, rather than destroy joints and tendons powerlifting. But it is kind of a rush pushing heavy weights and when the whole gym stops and have everyone watch you lift. :grinno:

relly good advice guys, right now since the past three months or so i started the 5, 3, 1 method of lifting and my gains have increased almost 20+ pounds every two weeks.
I only do the basics, bench, squat and dead. dead and squat being my favorite.. for some reason I hate bench. powerfull legs with muscle tone to me beat a monster chest and shoulders..
I mean my bench is alright i'd imagine at 255 but my goal is to get it passed 405.
everything else is ok, minus the part of not being able to gain weight or muscle..

any tips on diet and maybe trianing wise?
as of right now i take no supplements, can't afford it lol... :(

i benched 70 lbs 18 1/2 times :0

incredible right?
