weight lifters?

I've been at it for about 4 years on and off. And c'mon guys give me some credit. I'm working with 100lb dumbbells lol.

Which is great, but with 100 pounders you're putting alot of stress on your elbows. Drop the weight, focus on your form and eat good. You'll see. Lifting heavy weights is good as long as you don't hurt yourself.

bodybuilding seriusly gets addicting lol ive been lifting for 2.5 years and cant imagine life with out it, and at perentie, high rep sets are for endurance and toning, size and strength packs on at 3 sets of heavy weight with 2-6 reps, focusing on proper form. but there are plenty of different ways to gain and i won't doubt your 13 years of experience :grinno: just tossing out my two cents. personaly, eating right and lifting properly and training hard gave me the best results

True mate, the general rule is that high reps = toning and shaping but the general rule vaires from person to person.

Over the many years ive tired it all and for the beginner a workout such as MAX-OT is a great workout for building mass and strengh but for me 2 sets of 15 for each muscle gruep is a crazy, intense workout that has over the years skyrocketed my progress and helped me win a 2 comps, maybe its not for the begginer though so for somone just starting out id say, use a 4 day split and a do 3 sets of 8 per muscle and no more than 3 exercises per muscle so for example, chest and biceps-

chest:

dumbell press ( putting the bench on a slight incline) 3 x 8
hammer press 3x8
Db flys 2x 8

Biceps:

incline alt dumbell curls- 3 x 8

barbell curls 2 x8

preacher curls- 2x 8

and you can also throw in a set or 2 of hammer curls.

just my 2 c

just remember that muscle is made in the kitchen, not in the gym.
Cheers-

Dazz

last year, when i was 15, i weighed 318, and since january 5th 2011 ive lost 107 pounds. i have to do weights just as much as i do cardio to keep all the loose skin taught.

but i love it now. i work out about 3 hours a day, and do weight training every other day.
