Weight training/Macros/General workouts

Man you guys got me thinking about this stuff...man i miss lifting soo much. I remember after the 1st surgery the drs were telling me i couldnt do my job anymore...i was like yeah ok all i could think about was getting back under the bar and was really pissed cuz i just got a nice trap bar for d-lifts and i never even got to use it.
damn...you need to talk to the doc s and figure out what you can do in the gym and get back into it...I feel like a little working out would probably be beneficial in some way.

I know allllll about the genetics lol, This current split I'm running is just a month or so long because I need to be able to run 2 miles for the army in 3 weeks, so I have to make quick gains in my recovery on cardio. Don't you worry, I'll most likely give 5/3/1 a try once this is all said and done. My genetics are good lol, and my diets locked, I follow IIFYM and I've never had any issues with weight loss or gain doing so.

I do HIIT several times a week, otherwise I usually just bike for 10 miles or so on a good cardio day. My gym has a track upstairs which is great because I can run 60/120's all damn day haha.


I thinknyou'll like 5/4/3/2/1 thinkthe author name is jim wendler. I saw the most fains qhen i would run that for a couple of months then switch to a high rep low weight routine then back to the 5/4/3/2/1 program.

Its funny though i never did the macro counting thing...prob ahould have. When i was doing high rep work iwiuld just eat everyrhing in sight lol

it is jim wendler lol, one of the best coaches in the BB game. I've got his 5/3/1 program set and ready after I get back to the weight I want lol. The 5/4/3/2/1 thing is inspired by his program, just with more increases due to some people not being in the 350-400 pound bench range lol.

haha I know a lot of guys who just EAT because they train heavy 24/7, its not a bad thing really as long as you don't eat crap food all day every day haha. I count because I like looking good haha, putting up more and more weight is secondary. I like to be functionally in shape lol, being able to run, jump and climb like a monkey haha.

The thoughts always creep into my head and i did get back after the first surgery but it was never the same and one rep with bad form would cost me a week of agony.smh


There was a time when all i did was body weight stuff and i swear i never ever had the same "size"gains with weights. At work i had some "clients" that were absolute monsters. I would jump on the bar with them and my god talk about strength. Most of them never touched a weight. K krichardson you ever discusse this with them ?

Problem is its like in-grained in our minds that weights are the the way to go and i would never stick with it long term.... plus doing 500 reps for wahtever body part i was targeting was boring as hell.

I like being more skinny and mobile, all this holiday eating has got to me lol. I have a few pounds I can work off

See I always plateaued way too hard with body weight only....I could never get the results I wanted....I know there are people out there that could out press me in all the lifts and, like you said, never touched a weight haha.

lol I hear ya, the holiday+severe ankle sprain and patellar tendonitis in both knees screwed me this last year haha

I wonder if its a genetics thing. Like some people have a better mind to muscle connection or just use the fast twitch muscles more than others. Bro i dont think i was ever as sore in my life as in i was after a crazy high rep chin up day...my god lmao

DL's are the best, most well rounded full body lift you can do lol I agree 100%, when your quads and hamstrings start getting tired your back and arms start picking up slack haha.

half my family is Italian too lol I know what you mean....pasta and sauce add up FAAAAST especially when you aren't allowed to have an empty plate haha.
