Weird armatus

I have a shoal of 4 young ones, they're about 5-6"

They usually swims alltogether, but since early today, one of them have been the weird one out of the bunch.

Swim a bit different than the others and the others seems to want to get away from the weird one. He may be on one end of the tank while the other 3 will be on the other side.

He seems to be gasping for air and not swimming as normal.

Anything I should watch out for or do ? I just did a WC, they just had a handful of feeders.

I've had them for over 3 months now, this is just happening earlier today.
 
sounds like they r trying to take out the weakest link.
 
i'll babysit another one for for ya if need be, he can play with the orino's and endli :D
 
I don't see any bite marks or battle wounds.

The tail is still perfect.

Should I separate him ? I am afraid by moving him, it causes more stress that can eventually be fatal. Maybe a divider for now ?

any flashing, or other signs of parasites?

if hes making sudden movements, the others might not want to hang w him.

i would prob divide and watch closely.
 
Is the odd man out eating as usual? And since these were wild caught did you rid them of the parasites?

Ofcourse I have never had a shoal or army's but I do know that with my shoals of Tat's and scombs, that when one is getting a new tooth they will seperate them selves from the shoal.

And as with any fish when they get sick they will not shoal as usual.

Gasping can be a sign of
  1. water quality problems
  2. parasites such as gill flukes, etc, etc
  3. stress from aggression, sickness, parasites
 
No Flashing. he was chomping down on rosies as usualy yesterday.

Water quality are stable, The left over rosies are still alive and swimming. If they're okay, I assume the armatus should be fine.

I'll put an egg crate as divider for tonight and see what happens tmw.

I used to...back in 04-06. Stan Sumirat with Fast-Turbo Black JDM integra. I was the first to run GT42R on a honda LOL.

Anyway, back on the armatus..

Stiill alive, actually escape back to the rest of the group and I had to move him back to his side. He's swimming at about 45-60 degrees incline. At times, he was on its side.

So the question is,

WHAT HAPPEN when they try to take their weakest link out ?

Does the feeling of NOT WANTED causes the stress ? if so, then I need to move him to a different tank. It's far fetched, but I have heard of this before.

I do not see bite mark, his tail is still perfect. There's zero evidence of any aggresions.
