haha well.... imma juss keep the oscar in the same tank cuz i dun have a another tank. i think i might buy one this weekend but if not the oscar is staying in there and it might get eaten
Offtopic ,but I don't think you had a C. barca. I could be wrong, but at this present time I know of every barca that has been caught and none have gone to america. How much did you pay for your fish?Haha thats awesome. I think fish think in a way more complicating than we expect them too.
I had a 8" Barca in a 100 gallon tank. Found a two 8" oscars for 5 bucks at a store. Anyways, I put them into teh barca tank, watched carefully for aggression. The Barca was fine with the oscars in there. Finally one oscar got too comfortable and flared its gills at the barca. The barca flared back, still sitting in its spot. The oscar advanced swimming in a 45 degree angle ( dunno why the oscar did this) and tried to bite at the Barca, big mistake. The barca immediatly charges the oscar and makes his side look like sashimi, no scales left. I took the oscar out and hospitalized it. Left the other oscar alone, it didnt bug the barca, and the barca didnt bug it. Weird how fish leave some fish alone and hate others.
i have a 9 inch albino channa striata and i had that foo since he was only 2 inch 3 months ago. when i first got him, i put him in the same tank with the 3 inch tiger oscar. The oscar punked the SH for like 2 months until it got to 6 inch. Oscar is about 5 inch now.
The weird thing is i added a albino oscar, albino clown knife, pacu and a pleco in the tank also.
I would've thought the SH will murder the newcomers but instead he picks on the tiger oscar only.
Now its to a point that the oscar's body is full of scratches and alot of visible wounds...![]()
The question is... is it normal for things like this to happen?
its funny because he lets all the other fish eat the feeder fish with him but he absolutely refuse to share with the tiger oscar and drives him to the corner of the tank and make sure he doesn't move...
anywaise give me some info.
depending on how things go, i would prolly be giving the tiger oscar away before he dies from stress or gets eaten.![]()
As said before I think it was no Barca probably an Aurantimaculata as they were often sold as barca a few years ago. On the rarity front they arn't quite as rare as we thought. I have seen an article in a UK magazine about a trip to Asia for a bit of fishing and they came across a supplier with 7 of them with a picture so definatley Barca.
There are only 15 specimens that have been caught so far. There is only one supplier that has these fish and to my knowledge he caught a a handful a couple of months back, these have mostly been sent to Japan. They are still very rare and very, very difficult to catch.
And who knows when the next batch will be caught, but I do know that these fish will never become mainstream fish like other once rare fish, unless someone breeds them and that is a possibility as there are two people in the world who have pairs.
I was going to say the same thing, Marlboro - you didn't have a barca. There's only over a handful of them in captivity, and ash has most of them.
4 now ash? Jesus christ
Delgado - I disagree. Fish are capable of revenge. I've seen fish hold grudges against another fish a couple of times.
