Weird fish in my tank.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a Electric Yellow Lab Cichlid could crossbreed with a pleco. I have just found a weird looking fish in my tank that has been established for years and I haven't bought any new fish in well over a year. The fish looks like a catfish type fish in the head area with 2 black whiskers sticking out from the sides and four spiky beard parts on bottom, with a spiked dorsel fin, round fins top and bottom in front of the tail. It is purplish with a light belly and spots. It seems to like to pause straight up and down when resting.

I hope someone can help me identify this fish.

a yellow lab and pleco WILL NOT breed together sounds like some synodontis cat

pics are a must

You haven't bought any fish... BUT has anyone else buy fish, and not tell you and just popped it in that tank? Post a pic of that fish your describing, Sounds like an Alien to me ... but a pic would help us identify!

I will take a pic a soon as I see it again. Like I said, I saw it for the first time tonight and it's already 2-1/2" long. No new fish have been introduced to the tank in about 1-1/2 to 2 years. I have convicts (that had lots of babies that all lived), a red zebra cichlid, the yellow lab, and of course the pleco, which my yellow lab seems to love. The 2 adult convicts killed my 3 blue cichlids when they had their babies. Anyway, I will send a pic as soon as it makes an appearance again.
