i would guess the chlorine killed the parasites, its the only thing that really makes sense. The tap water probably flushed through their system and the worms couldn't handle it.

I had cichlids before and they never seemed to mind chlorine, i used to end up putting 90% tapwater just to see how'd they respond and they didnt seem to mind at all. Ive always been curious as to why that is; why can some fish tolerate chlorine water and others cant? I know the owner who i bought my cichlids from when they were babies and they were kept in well cycled chlorine"less" water, any ideas?

since you age your tap water , its should be free of chlorine

Chlorine directly inhibits the growth of beneficial bacteria, disrupting the nitrogen cycle and creating an unhealthy environment for your fish.

im aware of that, i've only done it a coupl times to see how my fish would handle it as they seem to be pretty resilient to the chlorine. Definitely not a regular thing when doing my WC

here in our place, chlorine is very low. Thats why i apply it directly. My channa hates meds too! A mild dose of water seems to work for me. :)

might be a low amount of chlorine , did you use a test kit to test for the chlorine?

actually i used it to test for any ammonia which came up as zero lol. but apart from that i didn't test for chlorine, good idea.

hmm perhaps it's because i use aged water, that's why they seem to be ok with it!

great , i used to have one that take pellets
