I'm gonna be real honest.....GET RID OF THE OSCARS FOR NOW.
1. They're too much to keep in a 55
2. They have a brotherhood with the other fish and will protect them
(Sounds funny but they have been known to practically parent other fish not of thier kind if they've been with and grown with them.
3. Oscars are a dime a dozen, and if you really want them you can prolly get better looking ones.
4. You're going to be much more satisfied when all said and done with the other possibilites available.
5. Even the possibilities for environment in the tank increase with the expulsion of the oscars.
I don't mean to rain on the parade but this would be a healthier long run solution for your wallet, the oscars, and any other fish you get. I'm sure we've all kept fish in tanks that would eventually be too small but inevitably move them. In your case sooner would be the best solution over all. A flower horn will not be kind to anything once it gets of size!!! Do not, and I stress that, try that route until you have a bigger tank. Some flower horns half the size of a mature male malawi peacock would take it out. Again, death...not what we're going for. There's always a catch.....size and time of togetherness. I've kept souths, centrals, and all sort of diff. africans together but size is an issue. They may get along idef. but not usually and new introductions are the hardest. No one will ever pinpoint the combination possibilities but try not to take big risk Eg. Flower Horn growing way bigger than anything you'd want to keep in a 55 and smokin it. The more mixing you do the more knowledge you should have about each species and location before mixing it up also. I've kept polleni with peacocks, still have a snook in with them, and two calvus...but the polleni had to be moved with size and the snook will to. Better to move or get rid of something before it causes the problem. Trying to give you as much info as possible along with the possibilities and Im sure someone will stomp on some part of my thoughts but....Think about 1-5 above. It's you best bet. And start saving everything you've got to get a bigger tank....it will cost the pricetag and a bunch more but you'll never regret it!! GOOD LUCK
