I thought silvers were relatively nice to other silvers. I hope Gyarados doesn't chomp the new guy. He could do some serious damage. I'll just make sure he's well fed and have to hope for the best.

I know the fins can grow back, because my first one was in similar shape, but not quite to this extent. I just have to get him eating well again.

they should've let you take him for free.

and silvers are silvers worst enemies. Especially at that age.

Good luck with him, ive nursed back several fish that were almost gone, not impossible but a real labour of love! Good on you for trying!

OMG the anal fin is completely gone!!
Put it in a smaller tank of maybe 20-30 gallons cause the silver might eat or attack your jar also it is easier to treat the fish when it is alone.
Raise the temp to 28°C not 30 as it is small and put some salt into it(it really helps for the initial growth)....For faster growth rates feed live fish till the fin grows back.Since the whole thing is gone it will take 1-2 months.
Weekly WC is neccessary
Many people may disagree with me...This is just experience as my aro's tail also got ripped off

I have a 40 breeder that I could closely monitor his progress in. I guess I'll be putting my electric catfish up for adoption then. Anyone want to babysit my e-cat for a couple months?

Gl with him. Hope he pulls through. I agree with what everybody else said, but I would also add salt to. Water changes and salt make a big difference.
