1.5" is bigger than any quarter I have in my pocket.

So a quarter and dime side by side is 1 1/2". The point is the fish are babies that probably won't make it in a community tank, and at the very least, stunt like crazy.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I read that in order to get discus to breed, you need 84-86. However, that's not what I'm trying to do. I will raise the temp to 80, though.

So far, they're doing okay. I have target-fed them twice today with the bloodworms, daphnia, brineshrimp, sprirulina combination. It is soaked in Seachem vitamins, as well. Tonight, they'll eat when every one else eats, and then again when I feed the catfish, after lights-out. So that's four times per day.

I figured they'd be better off in a heavily planted tank than a non-planted or barely planted tank. Isn't that what they would do in the wild as young fish -- hide in leaves and stuff to avoid predation?

As I said earlier, I have no objections to buying a couple more, but can't do so until I get back up to the store next weekend.

Their size is about one and a half inches, like I said -- about the size of the bottom ring on a soda can.

Oh, and today, they're venturing up toward the top of the tank more than they were yesterday. Hopefully, that means they're settling in.

Oh, and I just wanted to add that I've set up a 20 Long for them after the comment about growing them out some more. I'm going to pull out some media from a filter and throw it in an HOB if I see any trouble. However, I would like to try this first, because they seem to be doing well, so far, and eating like pigs. If they weren't eating, or they weren't active in the tank, or they were exhibiting stressed coloration, I'd pull them out, guys.

And I'd rather flush money down the toilet than kill a fish! I'm not taking this lightly at all -- please don't misunderstand me!

I have four babies, one 4 inches, one 3 inches, one quarter sized and one 7 inches ( rescue with bent spine) and they are in a tank with 6 clowns, a ID Shark/cat, 10 Kreb Fry, a giant mystery snail, a Blue Algae Shrimp ( roughly 3-4 inches) 2 banjo cats, 2 panda cories, a female Betta, a Dwarf Gourami with a chunk missing from his back (completely healed, about a half a quarter sized chunk missing from his back. Came in as a rescue) and one khuli loach. The smallest Discus (quarter sized) stays with the 7 incher, and ended up being the same color coincidentally. I am not good with the names yet. Once doubled in size in the two months we have had him, while the smallest is still a little behind. Everyone gets along great. I love this tank just for the personalities each one has

Thanks for your comments. LOL that's one heck of a stocking list! What temp is your tank at?

I keep it at 81. The tank is a 20 long as well. I do water changes on them every 2-4 days. Oh, I have a senegal in there too. Her fins were nipped off and looked like a little worm. (shes only about 4 inches). Most are in there to rehab, or growout. The loaches with join the other 21 in the big tank when they get some size. The ID Shark (albino) I decided to move him to the 75 tonight with the other two. The are 4 and 8 inches respectively. He just bumped 3 inches. (got him at 1 1/2 inches 4 weeks ago).

I noticed that the big discus hid a lot in the previous owners tank, (a 240) even though he had 8 other ones the same size as him. Maybe it was due to his deformity that he has such a soft personality. At first I felt bad at such a drastic shrinkage in tank size, but he is the most out going one now. He will raise out of the water with his head and dorsal fins, ( I call them his jazz fins lol) waiting for food. and he has his driftwood cave that he and the baby stay in at night. how do they like that mix that you feed? I saw it and debated between it, and the one with 4 things in the cube. Cant remember the name of it now. :shakehead I have the babies eating everything that hits the water, bloodworms, earthworm/beefheart growth flake, shrimp, algae/ meat wafers and even pellet. But the big guy is mainly bloodworm. He may take the occasional flake but its a slow progress.

My fish attack that food. It is ridiculous! All of them just love it. And their color is just amazing -- on the tetras, the reddest reds, neon blues. My clown loaches are growing faster than I thought they would, as well. And they're a lovely bright orange. It's really amazing stuff.

I didn't understand why they would be stunted in a larger tank like that. Could you explain a little for me? ( not trying to come off as rude at all I promise)

Maybe hillbilly is referring to the problems with feeding them and making sure they're getting enough to eat, so they might be stunted due to nutritional deficiency? I'm not sure, either. Please explain if you can, hillbilly!

Also, I just checked temp, and apparently it's already running at 80. So, temp is at 80, and I think this is probably okay with the other fish, as well.
