Just got an electric bill and some how our electric went up $78 and my parents are blaming my 55g that only has a heater and a filter running on it, and my light that runs for 8 hours... I told them something is wrong with our meter because its impossable it ran up our bill that much, and I told them if my tank serious raised up the cost that much brittanis mom would of told me to take it down without a blink of an eye... I dont know what I should do... they said theyre going to wait and see how much the next bill is and if its more which itll probably triple do to me having 3 filters on my 150g hopefully only 2 here soon I imagine theres enough BB in my other filters to hold it.
 
im 17 why lol? and I know thats why I was telling them theres absolutly no way in hell its because of my dang fish tank, but because Im a kid I dont know what Im talking about because I cant be right...
 
On a 46g bowfront with a 300 watt heater, 2 30 watt lights, AC110, penguin 350, airator. My bill didnt even go up by $20. I leave the light on for over 12 hours as well, there has to be something wrong with your bill, at least its not all coming from that 1 tank.

If youre old enough get a part time job.
 
NO way...I added at 120 with sump and huge light assembly and to be honest, I didnt notice an increase and thats with my 55 still running. I doubt your tank increased the bill that much. In fact, I have 16,000 gallon inground pool and my bill only went up $50 if that with the filter running 8hrs a day. And my tank lights are on 12hrs a day

Summer is coming.. wash cars, mow grasses, help old ladies plant flowers.
 
yeah no way is that because of the tank. im runing a 60 gallon and a 330 gallon that has 2 FX5s and lights and heaters and my bill is only 18 bucks more than before the tanks. They need to call the electrical company and report a problem. Your neighbors prolly stealing ur electricity.

We have a 24,000 gallon pool we run in the summer and thats the only time our bill ever gets in the 100's other whys our electric bill is like $50 at the most. I do have a job, but Im not paying $78 bucks because they just expect its me...
 
Doesn't anyone realize that the cost of electricity is going up? Could just be price increase as well.
