I think its a whole 6.5 cents a KwH it said we used 1,147 KwH's this month, last month we used 330 KwHs.. there is something wrong with our meter or something on our electric companys end... we're probably the most anal family about using electricity nothing is on unless were in the room, we never leave anything on at night except for my fish tank stuff. Theres no way it jumped that high...

Be glad it's not $400 like mine... and that's with out the outdoor pond and my 240 running.

I have a 200w heater in my 150g. and I think I have a 200w in my 55g too. My 150g has only been set up since monday night and it had 2 150w heaters in it but my water jumped to almost 100 degrees so I took them out on like tuesday..

Do you have well-fitted lids on the tanks? If not, then the heat escaping through the top will cause your heaters to run much more frequently, if not constantly. Cover the tanks, you'd be shocked at the difference.

same here but at my house we have 1 135gallon, 1 55gallon 1 12gallon 1 10gallon and my parent don't seem to care.... good luck.

they fit good but there about a 2" gap on the back because the filters, I dont no how im suppose to cover it?

That's not too bad, I'd just mickey-mouse a chunk of plastic to covert the gap. My grotesque abuse of electricity has led to my cutting back of heated tanks. I'm going mostly coldwater critters now lol. At its highest, the tanks alone were costing about 150 bucks per month.

Be careful with your filters too. I know we MFKers love to put Fx5s on everything, but they use 50 watts of power. I have a bunch of Fx5s, but I only use them if absolutely necessary. If I can run a tank with a AC 110, which uses 15 watts, I will. Hell, I could use three for less power than the Fx5 lol.
