I was at walmart tday, and thought i would check out the fish they had even though i wasnt going to buy any. When i got to the fish section my jaw dropped. They had a tank of black upside down cats... For $6 each!
I wanted one so bad but i figured since it was walmart when i brought it home it would make all my fish sick:irked:...

I've bought lots of fish from WalMart that I still have and are healthy. Where you buy them isn't the issue. Quarrantining is the issue.

unfortunately i dont have a quarantine tank because my dad wont let me (im 14).
i wish other stores had black upside down cats for 6 bucks each though...

I don't buy that excuse, sorry :-) Also at WalMart in the fish dept they have 10 g tanks for $10. If you had $6 to spend on a fish then you've got $10 to spend on a Q tank. You could've gotten the 10 g tank and used a bubbler and a peice of sponge to get it cycled. Next excuse? lol

my walmart doesnt just sell tanks. they only sell the complete kits which start at $35. and my dad hates my fish obsession. he doesnt want the q tank wasting electricity... and he said it would make a mess setting it up... he wont even let me keep the tank lights on 10 hours a day... luckily my room is very bright.

I think that the "don't buy fish from Wal-Mart" is more of a boycott thing than a fish health issue. Wal-Mart shouldn't offer fish and the only way to stop it is to stop making it economically worthwhile for them to do so.
