dude, some fish are just incredibly ravenous......the fish with huge mouths will swallow anything they can.....look how the Wels has adapted to eating birds and hunting shorelines in areas of Ebro River, Spain.....that CAN'T be good no matter where in the world they are. This is not normal behavior from the Wels, but as it is introduced to different places, it evolves and adapts to survive in new environments. That is what keystone predators do, especially w/ no natural enemies to keep the population in check.Kinda moot now but I guess it's a good thing very few wels are brought into the hobby to run the risk of any of them winding up in some waterways.
Yeah I understand all of that dude but I'm not aware that the two fish in question coming into this country in any large amounts that would result in handfuls of them eventually being released.Like I already said, this is the tip of the iceberg and there are forces at play here who are not concerned about ecology and conservation.Enjoy your fish while you have them folks!.....dude, some fish are just incredibly ravenous......the fish with huge mouths will swallow anything they can.....look how the Wels has adapted to eating birds and hunting shorelines in areas of Ebro River, Spain.....that CAN'T be good no matter where in the world they are. Look at what the Nile Perch has already done to Lake Victoria
i know and i feel both sides of the debate, but from seeing this type of stuff through past experiences, the thing people MUST REMEMBER is.......Yeah I understand all of that dude but I'm not aware that the two fish in question coming into this country in any large amounts that would result in handfuls of them eventually being released.Like I already said, this is the tip of the iceberg and there are forces at play here who are not concerned about ecology and conservation.Enjoy your fish while you have them folks!.....
