Must have been too much ammonia given off from so many fish or not enough oxygen.Where they still in a bucket or did you have them in a bigger container?

A bucket. How big of a container would I need to control ammonia from like 10 fish? Would a big see through rubbermaid like 20 gallons work? If so for how many fish? I'll also have to add two bubblers in there. How many fish per 5 gallon bucket? I'll put bubblers on the 5 gallon buckets too. I have unlimited access to those (my dad buys them in bulk by the thousands for his stores) ill add a lid too.

Not sure how big of a container you would need but you don't want to crowd the fish.If they are kept for a few hours in a small enough amount of water they may start to die from the ammonia that they will produce, from lack of oxygen,or from a rise in the water temperature. It would be good if you were able to change a bit of the water that they are on also.

^^^ This is the problem... he has nowhere to keep them and obviously doesn't understand how big bluegills and other sunfish get and how messy they are.

the 1st and last fish looks like a red breasted sunfish, the rest look like bluegill to me...lol

My question is, why would you even attempt to keep 20 fish in a bucket? I'm guessing it's probably a 5 gallon bucket with no oxygen or filtration. And doing water changes sounds like it would pretty hard with only 5 gallons of water and 20 fish to deal with. This all together sounds like an awful idea. I suggest if you don't have a larger container and/or tank, just leave the fish where you found them.
