Must be eating pretty good then if they can lay eggs that big.
It’s gotta be all the bugs and flies they are finding. Not much else out there I don’t think. Not yet anyway.
I’m sure they are just happy to be spending more time outside instead of being cooped up.

Wow that's like 4 jumbo eggs in one lol.
It is! I can’t wait to crack it open and see how many yokes are inside!
I do feel bad for the poor girl that laid it though. I imagine it would be like giving birth to a 15lbs baby??

Lol don't forget most poultry will eat anything they can get their beaks on. Our chickens when we had em used to eat snakes, lizards, frogs, mice, the odd gopher pup. They really loved eating snakes for some reason tho lol.

I thought I’d share a little of something I’ve been working on.
I failed at making a diy incubator. It ran way too hot and humidity was all over the place. My husband ended up buying me an incubator to try hatching some eggs.
Unfortunately my boys haven’t completely figured out how to do their job yet? So most of the eggs have been unfertilized. Of over 30 eggs only 5 are showing signs of growth. That makes me sad because I’d rather have eaten those eggs?
Anyway, here is a picture of one of the eggs at 7-8days along. F29B1E64-AC4C-44DE-945E-8A3FF7AF237D.jpeg
Im really hopeful that a few make it!

Today has been an exciting day!
I was going to lock down my eggs today and expected them to hatch weds-Friday. I did not expect to see three eggs had cracks and were starting to hatch!
I didn’t get a chance to remove my egg turner or the dud eggs. Just quickly added more water to raise the humidity.
Here are some pictures! A9B78489-4FDE-4355-88A3-DD66D35915EA.jpeg2B927EDC-8850-4939-B586-A15CEACC2E9C.jpeg0DD1CB45-13D8-48BE-A03B-A92F14BA362D.jpeg9B6FBA9F-7396-422C-8DE4-D9E6319C417E.jpeg

Haha, no chance of a hybrid here. My only chickens are cooped up and only 9-10wks old. Pure pearl guineas.
Next year I’ll have a chance at different color variations. In July I will be getting white, lavender, and royal purple guineas? I’m beyond excited!
That’s also why I’m not keeping any of my own babies this year. As it is I’ll be doubling my flock when the new ones come.

Sure?
As long as everything goes as planned on the hatcherys end, they are due to arrive the second week of July. I have chickens and turkeys coming the same time. ? Hopefully I’m not getting in too far over my head. Lol

No progress with the other three so it was time to help out. I was pretty nervous, but got some help from a poultry group to guide me.
All three had dry membranes so I applied coconut oil.
here you can see how dry it was. 0F598B58-9292-42FE-A08B-2627EDB1A5CE.jpeg
All three after I opened shells and applied coconut oil.

The last one you can see the vains aren’t absorbed yet so it will still need a good bit of time before it’s ready.
All three are back in the incubator and hopefully won’t require anymore help. I’ve been hesitant to assist them, but I don’t want to risk losing them if I can help it.
They are peeping and wiggling around:) 616811CA-7AED-4DE1-8389-286A62946ED6.jpeg
