Wetspot trimac or Flowerhorn? needs your guys help

With all due respect, the wet spot is the most reputable LFS in the Portland metro/southern WA area. The owner Steve is a cool guy but won't tank any attitude well. I know most of the folks over there and they are good knowledgable people, especially the manager. Hell he even has my old L240 plecos in his personal collection. If they sold it as a trimac, it is. If you feel they are mistaken, be as cool and collected as you can be when you inquire with them OK. Burning a relationship with the best LFS in town will only suck for you long term. They aren't making money hand over fist with their prices so keep that in mind when you go in. I don't know squat about CA's so I can't help with the fish, but I would defend the wet spot all day long. Outside of a few from Rapps, my entire collection has been aquired through them. GL

Well, seems that the most reputable LFS in the Oregon/Washington area is selling FH's as pure Trimac. I think they truly thought they were Trimac and not purposely deceiving their customers. Things happen though, it's happened before with another extremely respected vendor/importer/breeder that any MFK'er would defend. He was getting his from one of his vendors, not breeding them himself. But as soon as he found out what was going on, he made it right to each and every one his customers. I'd want my money back or a pure Trimac....or store credit towards something else at the very least. Let's see how Wet Spot handles this. Explain what happened and don't get attitude since Steve the owner doesn't 'tank' attitude well lol.

i am going to be nice and resectful to them, so things don't get out of hand. i would prefer a refund so i can get something different, which is a chancho I figured after see all the pearls it was a FH,i guess thats what i get for being cheap. I said it was probably their distributor, but ultimately it's the retailer who labled it and sold it as something it's not. It's their reputation and loss of business at stake. They could make it right or tell thier customers to go jump off a pier.

For what it's worth, those look quite different from the trimac I saw for sale in the Wet Spot retail store in person two weeks ago.

I'd say it's a hybrid as well.

The Wet Spot is a very quality store, but they don't specialize in CA/SA cichlids. Hopefully they make it right for you.

I'll man up here and say the photos in the first thread by Chris looked like a Trimac to me and since he bought it from Wetspot as a Trimac I made the statement "I see nothing in the photos the op posted that makes me think he didn't get what he paid for" he bought a Trimac.

I said if I was wrong I'd take it on the chin. Well, Honda's photos have made me think I could have been wrong. If Wetspot can't say they are from a known pair of Trimacs, I have no problem saying publicly I was wrong. However Trimacs do vary greatly as we have plainly seen from several other photos posted and no one has chalenged the liniage of those although at least one looks suspect to me, so I will wate and see what the vemdor says.

thanks, i have to admit to, that i also thought they were trimacs, but after watching them develop, i am leaning towards flowerhorn.
