whale wars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It should also be noted that this isn't a TV show specific operation. They have been doing this for a long time, the show is good because it gives the public a glimpse into what goes on.

Like i said in another post look up the international whaling commission (and japanese whaling for that matter), maybe then you can see the broad picture.

Swede, if you watched this season (I don't know about the first season), the Japanese whalers have someone that speaks english on the ship. You can hear them on a loud speaker as the Sea Shepherd crew approaches the ships in their RIBs. There is also a Japanese girl on the Steve Irwin that will get on the radio and translate for Captain Paul Watson, so needless to say, the Japanese know what is being said to them.

Thats a recording the japanese vessel is playing over and over.........pay attention.

either way there's still a Japanese translator on the Steve Irwin... though I'm sure you're going to tell me that Paul Watson pulls the cord on the radio when she translates for Paul just so that the whalers can't understand

Is this a joke?

Document the facts? Does the show not document the facts? Ever heard of the IWC? Look it up, and see what documenting the facts has done. I like how you have such a strong stance, but know nothing about the history of this.

They aren't extreme like the loose organization of ALF, or threatening human life. Terrorism is a loose term, careful how you use it.

Running a ship into another ship isnt dangerous then. That moron is putting himself and everyone that is trusting him to get them back to their loved ones safely....... IN DANGER.

I guess he's gonna have to kill everyone on the ship before you will be able to see that.

These ships are not sports cars. They take miles to bring them to a controlled stop. Bringing these ships within a 1\4 of a mile of another ship is DANGEROUS, RECKLESS, STUPID BEYOND BELIEF. Its not like you apply the brakes and it stops the same everytime. You have so many variables to consider. Many of these variables change from second to second. Currents, waves, sneaker waves and wind. All unpredictable. Always changing.

When they bring ships this size into a river or harbor they use tugboats so they have some sort of control in close quarters. They are not made to be manueverable in close quarters

You can bring up all these other organizations and what they do...........fact remains that what I have seen on Whale Wars is stupid, reckless, useless, and dangerous.

You are missing the point completely.

Ok let me lay it down for ya one more time.

They are putting themselves and others in danger so they can lob stink bombs at the ship. Its pointless, a waste of time. Have you seen any of these japanese ships ever stop whaling. NO. They are simply running from the ship so this idiot doesnt sink them.

I should probably give up trying to get any information through to you. but the crew is aware of the danger when they sign up for the campaign. the whalers aren't just going to say "oh, here's comes Paul Watson, lets go home and get a different job". but informing the japanese people of the illegal activities can cause them to stop consuming whale products, shutting down the demand and making it economically unreasonable for the whalers to continue whaling and the citizens can convince the government to do something about the whalers.

You can sign up as a volunteer if you want to see it all first hand. After talking to some of them, I know they are doing stuff that they aren't allowed to show on TV.

for the whaling? where? i want to shoot.. uhh, research whales.

After watching this show I have to say that they haven't accomplished much other than some harassment. They seem to fail at everything they do.

I just got done watching the last episode of whale wars. Ol Paul Watson didnt look so smart when the australian federal police were waiting in port when they returned from their eco-terrorism tour:ROFL:.

If you saw the last episode then you also saw that the whalers fell to 300-something whales BELOW their quota, this puts a great deal of economic strain on their whaling operation:screwy:
