What’s is going on with my fire eel ??

I just got this fire eel 2 days ago and he had nothing like this when I got him none of my fish have ich but I treated the whole tank half strength because most of my fish are scaleless and it appears to have gotten worse over night, could it be ammonia burn, or shedding it’s slime coat ? If that’s even possible. I really need some help Nothing else has been picking at him either so it’s not that and suggestions are very much appreciated

could this be skin damage from squeezing himself in small caves or from burying himself in the gravel?
Is he eating normal?

Yes it could be I just added him to the tank and most hiding spots were for smaller fish and he would get in them but it really looks like some type of mold like a powder mildew not like ich which looks like sugar or salt

Did a water change today and added some stress coat I’m on my way home to check him now it’s been about 6 hours hopefully it’s cleared up a little when I woke up this morning it looked a lot worse then the picture I posted

I agree it looks like a lot of little scrapes that may have irritated his slime coat??? Also judging by the pics, your tank looks like there could be a lot of sharp decor he could be scraping on as he tries to fit inside them???

Isnt keeping spiny eels in a tank with gravel not advisable for this very reason?
