Oh that is absolutley amazing. I have two jack russells and they are the smartest dogs I have owned. Very intellegent.

Not really, what the dog does is simply what the dog is capable of. The dog is not feeling ,"omg I'm smart I know this," it us humans who interpret it as such. It doesn't give a **** about human machinery or doors. It is pathetic that a human makes a dog do a human's job and label the dog as 'smart' just because it serves a human. The dog is only relying on one thing and that is SURVIVAL and its intelligence lies in that. Like doing a trick to get a treat.
Although it may be wow to a human's mind, to a dog it doesn't mean anything. You may call it 'dumb' because it doesn't care about you or 'smart' because it listens to you, it really doesn't matter to a dog. On the other hand, bonds are different. Whether a dog does a trick or not, if the dog loves you, it will put its life on the line. Something not all humans do for their dog. While mindless sheep go ,"omg I am so in Love with that dog," well I feel sad for the dog. That dog was nothing but a slave. If you were in that dog's situation, I bet you'd have a different point of view.
