Oh give me a break. Yes it is instinctual for dogs to chew. But they should be taught to chew on appropriate items. My dogs are provided bones for them to chew on. They know those are ok to chew on, not other items. Everyone in a home needs rules, even the pets.
They were fine roaming as they should be, free and wild. Then man domesticated them, and designed cute little ones to entertain minds like yours, creating toys that are alive, toys that cannot survive outside human monitor, and those that humans did not buy getting dumped here and there, passed around, God knows what else.. it's all...you know, the old story of man sticking his nose into every single thing and putting the Dollar Bill sign on every single thing, even animals, life. And made up rules... yea 'appropriate' hahahahahaha made up bull**** is what it is. Suit yourself...
I don't doubt that you care for dogs or animals in general; but if you look at it realistically, you're just as "domesticated" as this dog is. You are not running around "wild and free". You do "tricks" for "rewards" (working or slaving for technology, nice cars etc). If you feel the common house pet should have been left to be free and wild, why not you also?

Your ancestors endured many hardships so that you could post entries on blogs, surf the web, have electricity, drive nice cars or own a home. You could not survive today as those as little as 100 years ago did. Why should an animal who has been bred for centuries to be "companions" to humans be subjugated to the conditions of its ancient relatives because they are "animals". More importantly with the human encroachment on natural habitats of "wild animals" how long do you think a domestic animal would survive in the concrete jungle we have created, or a wild animal for that matter? If you want to preach about the mistreatment of animals, preach about over development of natural habitats, poaching and such.

I think if you looked a little closer at how we as humans are the real slaves(to society) and greed; you'd see the warmth in what this young lady is doing with her dog.
