What an idiot. guys, help me out please.

i think she felt how i feel when i go to petsmart. i just want to go in, get what i want and get out. but they always end up trying to tell me what i need to do.

from what i saw, she just had a question about her catfish. then you asked her "how's the hunt for a bigger tank goin?" which she got offended by as if she didn't know what she was doing.

the thing is, you don't know what other tanks she may have or how experienced she is. she may have plans to move some fish around or the fish may be together just temporarely. nothing indicated to me whether she knew what she was doing or not. maybe she does a lot of water changes,.......... maybe she plans on moving teh gobie out when it got bigger,............. i see that you were trying to help, but i think i know how she felt or why she took offense.

bottom line,............. just move on, you have better things to worry about

most people who keep fish don't know squat . even a newbie here is an expert in comparison . hey , you tried , so let it go ... don't take it personal , you can't change people ... especially when they're not ready . also , too many people on forums take that scoldy tone which can be a real put off ... so people tend to get defensive .

You want to help her? Then get off your soap box on that thread. Start your own lecturing other fish keepers on your own thread or PM her.
Ive tried that. she ignored me when i told her i was sorry for going off topic on one of her threads, she ignored me.

You can force/take a horse to water but you can not force them to drink. It's as simple as that.

I bet the feeling that's she's or he's an idiot is being reciprocated.;) she refuses to listen to advice, buys fish that she knows nothing about, and has crammed them all in a 29gal. im trying to be helpful and save her fish.

I suggest you save your pontificating self serving admonitions to some more receptive folks who are actually seeking help with stocking.
im not trying to be self serving. im trying to help people and their fish.

yeah i realize now that i should move on. and the 29 is her only tank from what ive seen on that site. she also said she "recently adopted a pleco".

Is it possible that the fish is changing color because of stress? I've never had one but I know that my fish changed colors when moved from a crouded tank at the lfs to my roomy tank at home.

If it is related, make the transition? It's not off topic if you can connect the two. Then again, might be better to let it go if they are allready being defensive with you.

she got pissy at a mod who was both defending me and trying to be helpful. ive given up on her, mods are considering locking the topic... more action may be taken, who knows..

Just ignore her you really cant teach when someone, if they dont want to learn
