What are common cold water Monster Fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I looked up the fish listed. What about an Albino Channel Cat?
I have contemplated stocking them in my pond, but never thought about putting them in a tank.
I can get them from a local fish farm.
I would love to have bofin in the tank.
I caught two bofin in my pond, but that was years ago. I have not caught one since.

Sunfish would be your best bet Rock Bass is another good one.

A shoal of Pumpkinseed sunfish would be cool:

Different sub-species of Brook and Rainbow Trout are smaller - average around 11 inches around me. You could try a solo one.

It might be too big but pikeminnows come to mind. Sinoperca chautsi also come to mind, they are kind of big, but are ambush predators so that might work. I saw someone with a large creek chub once that was cool in a tank. Burbot are cool, but might be too big for the tank. Golden shiners are another option they can get close to a foot long., or you could try anguilla eels.

I am thinking about ordering 25 Albino Channel Catfish. I don't need that many in my tank. I could put them in my pond, they since they are small and white (very visible) they would just be Bass food! I have a 275 gallon tote. I could put it in my shop and put the extra cats in it.
If I feed them good all Winter, they may be big enough to release into my ponds next Fall. I am still trying to get ahold of the local guy who stocks ponds. They sell then for $1.50 each. If I order the 25 it comes to $104 with shipping.

Might not need the stock tank if u plan on stocking ur pond with them come spring/summer. They are pretty slow growing IME… at best u might have a few at 8-10” by then if that. Filler up and enjoy the show until spring ?? . They usually come in tiny at 1.25-2” and are kinda fragile surprisingly until 10-12”. Ive raised dozens upon dozens of these guys. Good choice having the pond and all, easy to spot em in the water/like kind of setting.

I think that the OP is looking for fish that are on the larger side of things. As in, fish that would possibly eat the fish that you suggested ;)

I guess I need to go get the tote and set it up in my shop.
I need to get it cycled and build a bio filter or something for it.
