Definitely try freshwater first. Much easier to manage, and that little shark you put a picture of up is a good fish for your first time. How large of a tank is your mom going to let you have? I would advise a 30 gallon if you have the room.

Iam like you , I love my sharks,,,, start of with some easy to keep ones and work your way upVIDEO0255_0000009590.jpg

Yes by all means go with a fresh water setup first. There are many things to know before you start even a freshwater. Salt water is a lot more difficult

Yes. I would recommend that you go with a freshwater setup. Get a 40 gallon breeder tank at the petco dollar per gallon sale and get a few (no more than 3) orandas. Get 2 aquaclear 70s and a titan eze 65 gallon stand. the 65 gallon one works with 40 breeders. The 40 breeders are shallower and have swimming room than the 40 longs.

Pangasius sanitwongi is the most shark like fresh water fish I have seen.It is also one of those fish that probably should only be kept in swimming pool sized tanks.
They live in shoals and grow to roughly a metre or more.
Beautiful fish, but please don't buy one.

They will get AT LEAST 3 feet. Definitely not a beginner fish.

Isn't what you have shown a Paroon Shark? That is hardly beginner fish considering it reaches over 3ft long...

Lol.. I ment work up to a pangasius high fin.... Do not get this to start of with, my message got miss read,,,

Lol, my message got miss read I was not saying get a pangasius high fin as a starter fish,, I was saying work your way up to it,,my shark is currently only 8 inches long and is in a 1000 litre tank and will be put into a bigger tank in 6 months ,,, deffenently not a starter fish, only get them if you are prepared to get a massive tank
