Not a fan of the red devils either. With your oscar aggression, he's just being territorial. I firmly believe in moving the tank decor to prevent territorial aggression. Just move some stuff around.

I donno, my ebjd male is a little bastard. And alot of people say that about the electric blues (more docile) but owning several myself, and a couple before. I find them to be jjust the opposite. Have you ever owned one yourself gatorxxx420, let alone atleast one of the jd and atleast one of the ebjds? I doubt it.

They're not all wimps. I have a male regular Jack Dempsey that rules my tank. I bought 6 of them at less than an inch. At about 2"s my male killed his brother and has beat the crap out of 2 other tank mates. The only fish I got right now that's as aggressive as he is, is his mate. When she's ready to spawn she is actually more aggressive than he is. It's really a matter of the fish, but certain species are almost always killers while others are hit or miss.

I currently have 1 male EBJD that is around 7 or so inches, I have 1 regular male Jack Dempsey of the same size and 2 regular female Jack Dempsey's. They currently share a tank with 2 Texas and a Jag. EBJD's will be aggressive towards each other, but rarely ever are they aggressive to a fish of the same size or bigger. Mine from time to time drops his balls and fights and when he does, he holds his own. But the majority of the time, he flees when chased.

My regular male tried to attack my Jag and bigger Texas while they were floating and being acclimated to the tank until he realized they were not IN the tank. Then he didn't bother with them until I let them go. But again, personality traits are dependent on individual fish. I've never seen a Red Devil in a LFS that didn't go bananas when I approached their tank of a certain size, where Jack Dempsey's were skittish with the exception of a few. I'd say that the glass banging Dempsey's are about as common as the docile Red Devil's. I'm sure a lot of people on here would agree with me on that statement.
