I've had good acceptance with NLS. I've used it for a long time and never had fish refuse their cichlid formula pellets. I wouldn't say the same thing about their Algae Max though.
I get the Algae Max for my red hooks and the first jar I bought the pellets were rather soft and crumbly.I used that up and recently bought a second jar and the pellets in this one are as hard as marbles!I've had good acceptance with NLS. Yeah, it's not a great product. If I was going to feed algae/plant based food, it would be something like this Repashy gel:

It's a bit of work, but it's actually not too bad, and it can be refrigerated for reuse once mixed.
