I've had good acceptance with NLS. I've used it for a long time and never had fish refuse their cichlid formula pellets. I wouldn't say the same thing about their Algae Max though.

I get the Algae Max for my red hooks and the first jar I bought the pellets were rather soft and crumbly.I used that up and recently bought a second jar and the pellets in this one are as hard as marbles!

just say it bro your all about the NLS

I'm all about giving sound advice, backed with several decades of research & hands on experience, and not following social media trends. lol

Whether it's advice on feeding fresh/frozen .....

Out of a can …….

Or someone is just looking for a lower cost alternative, to some of the premium brands on the market …..

And yes, NLS is one of the foods that I feed all of my fish.

Yeah, it's not a great product. If I was going to feed algae/plant based food, it would be something like this Repashy gel:

It's a bit of work, but it's actually not too bad, and it can be refrigerated for reuse once mixed.

What the what? I feed AlgaeMax to all of my fish, even the carnivorous fish eat it like a fat kid eating M&M's. I have the 2mm AlgaeMax, and the larger wafers. Both are about the same consistency as other premium pellets in those sizes, definetly not soft.

The problem with Repashy is that once reconstituted with water, the fish are eating 75% water, and water is a non nutrient. Do the math on nutrient levels in that formula once 75% water is added in.

My fish ignored AlgaeMax when I tried it. I ended up throwing it away. They took the cichlid formula and Thera A no problem. You never know til you try. YMMV.

My fish eat algaemax (and other NLS and Northfin) like no tomorrow (pbass, pike, severums, catfish, lungfish, bichir). The only Repashy I buy is Bottom Scratcher and it's used so that I can wean my wild caught fish off of frozen food.

I just bought some of the nls thera micro pellets for my loaches. They seem to love it but i was hoping it would sink more readily. Think im losing a bit down the overflow every time i feed...

With 1mm NLS pellets, I put in a small cup and let the cup fill up with tank water to cause most of it to sink (bottom of the cup facing upwards at 45 degree angle), with lots of surface agitation causing the rest to sink. The new formula has improved ingredient(s) but it has a higher tendency to float for a bit, especially when you get to smaller pellets.
