What about a couple pygmy cories? They stay small...I have 2 in my community tank they are always together but then again it's a 30 gallon. I always thought anything under 10 gallons is a tough tank to keep healthy anyway. I still like the idea of a ghost shrimp or two I doubt they'd increase the bio load that drastically.

No cories or otos. They do better in groups.

Docsoldlady : get more corys.

No such thing as a cleaner fish.

i would say ottos. theyre not like corydoras that NEED to be in groups. mine is alone and he is very bold the last few days.
also maybe apple snails?

ty you guys and no im not lazy lol i just wanted to found out a fish or animal that whoul clean up after the betta he is a very messy eater and i dont want the food to spoil and contaminate my tank and get my fish sick.

Depends what you mean by cleaner fish. I consider a bristlenose or rubbernose pleco a cleaner fish. They keep my tank completely free of algae.

the kind that will clean excess food left after my betta eats

Perhaps you should limit the amount of pellets you are feeding the betta. Healthy betta are aggressive eaters, drop one at a time in there and count. If you overfeed, scale back with the next feeding.

Bettas are also prone to constipation, getting scavenger is not a justification for overfeeding (they have their own feeding requirements as well).

also as per your other thread:

5G with a Betta, I believe you are fully stocked. Any more additions and the water quality will suffer and be stressing to your fish. There is a difference between surviving and thriving, Ottos do better in 10+ gallons and dwarfs will contribute too much load to the tank.

Use your best judgement and care for your new Betta, 5G is a wonderful platform to see it thrive.
