What are the biggest waste $ on your tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Someone on MFK (can't remember who, I'm so sorry :'( ) mentioned that they went to michaels craft store and got their plants much, much cheaper...and they are prettier too. Was thinking of doing that myself instead of going live cuz i've been warned about monsters uprooting plants. Still not sure yet :S

The stuff I smoke while I gaze at my fish???

WAIT!! That's not a waste at all...

I'd have to say dechloronator (prime). It gets expensive(buying so much), but I guess isn't a waste either!

Does the water in your area contain chlorine and chloramine. Chlorine will dis-appear from your water if you let it sit and maybe use an airstone. Let it sit for maybe 2 days. However, chloramines do not dis-appear with time and water conditioner will have to be used. I use Novaqua and it's about $7.00 per 16 oz. I think Prime costs more but I've never used anything but Novaqua. The Doctor.

Damn, do your math. Novaque is like 1 ml per 10g while Prime is 1 ml per 50g. Also get those Prime in 20L then you're set for life.

This is wrong. A capful of Prime treats 50 gallons, and a capful of NovAqua treats ten gallons.

Either way, Prime is way more efficient. 1 ml = 10 gallons, 5 ml = 50 gallons, and the Pond Prime is even more, 1 ml = 20 gallons, 5 ml = 100 gallons.

Just to drag this out a little longer. I broke it down a little more. A capful is 5mls which treats 50gals, which means .5 treats 5gals. just about the size of my water changing buckets!

Right, just a few drops for a 5 gallon bucket, instead of half a capful of the NovAqua!
