That temp 80 is higher than natural conditions .......
If they were breathing hard due to temp it's because it's too hot !!!!!!
Henlei have a kinda sunken in head between the eyes . If its severe you'd know.head is different than the others these guys are used to. Theres Sometimes things you cannot test for with aquarium test kits . Prazi is a very safe med . If you have any scaleless fish they will usually rub on the bottom well before you see a ray breathing from a single lung.
Never had a problem with temp at 86 it keeps parasites at bay the rays seam to feed better
Been keeping mine at that for over 10 years and have only ever had one out brake of gill worm due to moving fish to a new tank
My tank has lots of oz and good circulation
