Top- looks like a green X pumpkinseed hybrid
Bottom- Green Sunfish.

I agree the top is a green/pumpkin hybrid and bottom is green. The problem with sunny ID is that they will all hybridize with each other so whatever species are present in that body of water could create hybrids that are not easy to say one way or the other

Even nearly all hybrids are fertile so there can be F1, F2 or even F5 hybrids. In rare cases, a hybrid crossed with another species that is not parental species but it does happened.

I really don't think the top one has any pumpkinseed in it...I'm thinking bluegill X green sunfish.
Once again, there are HUGE variables in the hybrids. Some hybrids of Pumpkinseed x GS and Bluegill x GS do looks excatly to each other. I've had Pumpkinseed x Green hybrids looks like that one but I had some Bluegill x Green hybrids looks like that one. It's a pain in ass trying to ID a hybrid and see what parental species are involving in the genetics.

Hybrid sunnies can definitely be difficult to id...there are very few pumkinseeds in this state in relation to gills and greens, I don't think I've ever seen a green X p-seed in person. I see a ton of gill X greens though...I'd like to see a pic of this fish after it settles in and the colors darken a bit.

I'm not 100% sure it's a hybrid. It looks an awful lot like the juvenile pumpkinseed or even a female we have around here. What makes you all think it a hybrid?

Look at the mouth, it is quite larger than pure pumpkinseed's mouth and also it has white splashes on the fins suggests a green hybrid.
