what are your most wanted fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A Trimac and a Synspilum. I have only seen Flowerhorns around here but no bonafide Trimacs. I have had two very small Synspilum and they both mysteriously died in two days. I guess i better buy both of these guys at 4" or better.

We are hoping to have some "Most Wanted" fish here in Colorado, maybe by month's end or early May. All the new, seldom-seen & exotic fish this Spring is truly amazing!

Any hints as to what some maybe:naughty:.

They got EVERYTHING on the most wanted list!

Too bad for you, though, because I already bought them all. ;)

:swear:

Very few people are going to want the fish I listed so I'm not to worried, the asfraci will be gone in 2 seconds if they show up but the madagascars are much less popular. Not sure why, they are great fish.

I will be extremely shocked if they can manage to get P. maromandia , last I heard the only captive fish were in Jean -Claude Nourisatts collection before he passed .
I see Geophagus pellegrini are on the soon to arrive list! Nice , I MIGHT be interested in some of those .
I would like ot have T asfraci again someday as well . I had a group of 10 1/2" to 3/4" fish once , but i lost all but one after only a couple days. I was very sad to loose those fish , not one you see around very often at all.
I'll have to add American cichilds to my list of sites to watch now LOL

I really don't know where this is coming from - the above reply MUST BE A JOKE! It would be virtually impossible to 'get EVERYTHING' on a "Most Wanted" List (yeah right - I got them all in less than 2 weeks). I also seriously doubt that IF available - one person could afford to BUY THEM ALL. Nothing was ever offered for sale so it galls me that a sale is even mentioned.

The intent of this thread was to see what serious hobbyists are seeking, to get an idea of people's 'Dream Fish', and discuss rare exotic cichlids that are highly desireable. I personally find it exciting, stimulating, and informative. It would be marvelous to be able to locate some of the "Most Wanted" fish and distribute them to hobbyists to enjoy and propagate for other enthusiasts! Many of them are Endangered Species so it is important we all work together to maintain their existence.

I find myself more and more being pulled toward these types of fish. Keeping and trying to breed fish on that are on the ACA CARES list or are considered threatened may do very little to save them in the wild but it might keep them around in capativity for a long time. Makes me sort of feel like I am doing something important. I know in the big picture I'm not, but it still feels a little better to breed a threatened or endangered fish.

My most wanted goes like this.......

1. hondo jag
2. yellow head freddie
3. true trimac( all yellow male no bars)
4. synispilum ( must have hump on head, so and old male)
5. carpinte( full grown male 11" min, I've seen one in 20+ years )
