What Are Your Thoughts About The Global Water Crisis?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its all a conspiracy

No I think it boils down to education, and people who know better and who can provide solutions not doing enough to further protect our natural resources. Here is another clip that I found. Hope You take the time to watch it... Most of the solutions are so simple.

maybe you should quit the fish hobby so there will be more water?

I could never imagine voluntarily quitting the hobby. But I have for several years altered my lifestyle so that I can conserve and protect the environment in which I reside. one of my neighbors has a pool that has been neglected and over the summer Myself and some of the neighborhood children have been working to try and rehab it without draining the filthy water. So far we have been able to establish a colony of mosquito fish in there. and for a bit there were tadpoles. but they all dissapeared. We also stocked crayfish and snails in there also, but there has been no sign of them still residing. Stick around. I'll post a video of it later. It started out pretty gross, but is slowly coming along.

What about You? how has Your fishkeeping affected Your views on the environment? And what have You done if anything to instill in Younger members of society that it is something that needs to be taken care of?

UNFFORTUNATLY , this is an ongoing problem in the 3rd world ...and other places.....the fix is in the infrastructure (you have to have one)....:(

I think you know this already ,but....its not about more water its about CLEAN water

It's quite telling when those responding in the thread feel like access to water that won't make you die is something that is political. What happened to wanting better quality of life for people that exist outside one's immediate awareness? I don't understand why something looking like an advertisement campaign is necessarily a bad thing. Was there one particular product being advertised as the sole solution to the problem of poor access to safe water? Why is advertisement suddenly a dirty word? Is it being confused with 'commercialism' or 'consumerism' somehow?

Trying to make it look worse, how exactly? The counterargument using the cow urine example is pretty misleading, the bacterial load of urine is quite small, as opposed to fecal matter, which can contain up to HALF ITS WEIGHT in bacteria, and is a well-known vector for the transmission of pathogenic (non-beneficial, disease-causing) bacteria. I mean, does it look worse than say, the Ganges?

Thanks for pointing that out lp. I thought on a forum filled with people who love filtration as much as Fish that this thread would generate more productive response.
What is it these last couple of weeks with random topics sparking internet fights?? Lol

I can't speak on any other topic. But I think the case here is certain posters not being able to set aside disagreements from the past and moving forward.

Thanks for contributing some clarity. This is my first time ever seeing or hearing about the Q drum. Some of these products are so simple yet innovative.

When Women and children are held mostly responsible for the collection of water, Im sure this goes a long way in reducing the burden. beats the hell out of balancing a 5 gallon jug on Your head while walking 2 miles.
