What baits have been working for bass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
anytime you are missing fish slow down presentation with whatever lure that you are using no matter cranks spinners jigs worms what ever....you will see a greater amount of hook ups that way

i just went today, i hit 3 LM-bass. One on a small Fake minnow, and 2 on a white grub lure.

/ive used all my baits and aint caught anything. I was wondering whats been workin for u guys . i missed two bass though on a berkely white spinnerbait.

Have you ever tried that cream that you put on lures that attracts fish?

I wonder if that truly works.

Either way I have caught some 6 inch small bass recently using those red and black rubber worms

My go to bait is a black Zoom trick worm texas rigged with a bullet weight. just bounce it off the bottom and wait to feel that hit. Most of the lakes around here in G'ville have very weedy bottoms so when I fish those lakes I like using a weightless Zoom super fluke. any color will work just have to find what they like. my favorite color though is the peral and baby bass. when i get the chance, i love fishing a Rapala skitterpop brown frog color. May not get as many hits but it sure is fun seeing it when you do.

been all soft plastics on the susqehanna recently for myself, 1/4 ounce jighead w a 4" Yamamto grub recently was getting the trick done. fished dragging off the bottom.

will be hitting the maryland flats next weekend, i'll let you know what they hit on there.

depends where u live and what type of structure/mood the fish are in

Exactly right!

What works one day may not work the next.

That is why a serious fishermen, has more tackle than he knows what to do with.:)

Get out there and start trying different things. Sooner or later you will find something that works... that day.

When using plastics, a good rule of thumb for what color to use goes like this....

Bright sky= bright aggressive colors
Cloudy/overcast sky= more subdued colors

As for presentation....
Cold water= slow presentation
Warm water= faster presentation

However, during warm water the bass may be breeding. So if you are sight fishing a bass on a nest, you may want to slow the presentation down. Especially when you near the nest. You want to keep that bait near the nest as long as possible, in order to piss that bass off enough to bite.

LMAO on the kroc. I was fishing Striped Bass last season.

I was using cut sardines, which was not working so well that day.
This cool Filipino kid next to me had just started out fishing and had no gear.
So I gave him some gear to start out with.

One of the lures I gave him was a blue/chrome kroc. Seconds after tying it on, he started to absolutely SLAY the stripers.
I was pulling out my hair in frustration, because I did not have another blue/chrome Kroc with me.

Oh well, it was worth it though. Because after that day, I could tell that kid was hooked on fishing.:cool-1:
