What can I breed in a 20 gallon long?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
angelfish are commonly bred in 10 gallons for a pair, so as a breeding pair a twenty will be alright

Yes, but that is a breeding tank surely? They don't spend forever in there?

Those are used specifically for breeding without thinking of long term health of the fish. Beside a adult angelfish is not a small thing and the male will stress the heck out of the female. Ideally angelfish should be in 55s IMO

ive seen lotsa these breeding setups for angels and discus alike and they survived there very well for a long time. for a breeding pair, a twenty gal would be just fine. an angelfish aint that large of a thing either and a 55 would be a good size com for angels, or for breeders a fry growout

I've had a pair of angels in a 29 and they weren't comfortable and given time angels can get the size of a small plate but to each their own I prefer to give them room

hmm I think u have very small plates then.if so I think u talking bout altums. im talking bout scalars. these breeding setups are appropriate, so maybe urs weren't a breeding pair.

I'm not going to argue, they weren't altum and they were a breeding pair having bred successfully before.
And appropriate is a matter of perspective

wat did u mean by weren't comfortable? seems a bit odd to see in a fish..When I first started fishkeeping, I kept three in a ten gallon for bout three years. Then I moved em to a 30, and they simply died off. water quality was fine along with acclimation. I find these smaller fish which peeps say should be in thirty gals do well in ten to five gals
