is this a salvini? whats there max size i kinda like the look of them. could they handle the aggression they might get from my cons or GTs. and would i have to worry about my birchir eating them. its a senegal and what about my spotted pims gettingahold of them?

what color do the have as juvies? anyone know of anywhere in MD i can get some, ihavent seen any at house of tropicals or petsmart or petco or anything

Oh yeah, salvinis can hang with a GT. In my 125, my biggest male salvini is the boss. No one can mess with him. At least not yet. I think once my texas or midas get bigger than him they will probably claim the throne but for now the salvini runs it. Are you planning on trying to breed the pair of GT's in your 125? You might want to be careful of other fish in the tank if you have a breeding pair. It could get ugly.

To answer your earlier question, a festae and red terror are the same thing. I would steer away from them. I have seen Gt's and red terrors work but in much bigger tanks, like 240 gallons and bigger. Red terrors can get close to 16". Not saying it couldn't work in your 125 as they would look really good together, but I would keep a close eye on the festae if you get one.

ah ok thanks, yea ill probably just wait on the festae till i get a larger tank, and yea if i can get a pair id like to breed them and the cons in the tank... but like i said id just like one more fish that can hold its own in the tank even if they are breeding

You can go with salvinis, firemouth, black convicts, oscar, texas, jack dempsey, jaguar, severum, bloodparrot, you can have a good variety of them going on.You can easily have two large cichlids, then about 4 medium size cichlids in the 125 for a mix up with the large ones.

i figured the GTs qualify as large cichlids so maybe a pair of firemouths or salvinis

Get salvinis, they're fun.

Females are yellow at 1". My males at 2" are already showing some faint yellow with blue spangling and red fins, but the girl is way more colorful.
