I've owned two Subarus and loved both of them. Both were extremely reliable and fairly quick. AWD is almost a necessity where I live, up here you either drive a Subaru or a 4WD truck in the winter.

The Mazda is more of a purpose-built sports car, but other than that it seems to lack in every department.

precicely, the rx8 is very nimble. it is a lot more structurally sound than the subie, and yes it does lack in the torque department, but all around, i would have the rx8 over the subie for 2 reasons, lots of aftermarket potential, and suspension.

you CAN turbo the rx8, but do it right. if you want to build a great car, the 8 is the way to go. if the subie is built, i doubt they drive like an 80 year old woman. the 8 has a lot of body kits to dress up the looks. if you want to drift, a turbo rx8 will be all you ever wanted. you can drift in the subie but it tends to be a little harder to get sideways. the rx8 willl get there, stay there as long as you want, and then get right back in line.

i have seen 400 hp rx8's with 350 pounds of torque. when was the last time you saw a subie push 400 hp to 9000 rpm?

To say the RX8 has more aftermarket potential than the STI is foolish. A basic bolt-on STI will walk the fastest RX8s. Rotary engines are a nightmare to work on, so that's not even a comparison.

Ken Block would like to disagree with you

Subie all the way.....RX8 are nice but i think the WRX is more practical. actually fits 4-5ppl in it and has all wheel drive.......not to many ppl can work on those mazda rotary engines.......they put out mad RPMs but i prefer the STI.....now the Mitsu Lancer Evo IV is supposed to compete w/ the STI rather well

That Ken Block is a damn RODEO CLOWN w/ that Subie. NUTS!!! if i ever saw someone on a dumb SEGWAY that's exactly what I'd do to them!! Smoke the damn tires off it while whippin some shltties!!! then be like NICE WHEELS FRENCHY!!!!!!!

G35 6MT or S2000.

I know of a few SR20 swapped 240s if you decide to go that route as well.

thats the only way i would buy a 240 is it would have to have the jdm engine and be slightly worked..

if you take your mustang and twist/mangle it to the point of you dont know how the hell you walked away from it... well then you do get this slight fear of road racing and dont drive like a pshyco anymore... this would be why he doesnt get on the car... when he gets further settled in his house he will sell the sti i get first shot at the car...

g35 is out of the question i cant afford a infinity LOL... s2000 or 350z are both on my list as well... i drove a supercharged s2000 before it was a blast..

350z has more potential over the rx8 for fun right away but rx8 has nice potential aftermarket as well... RX8 has the advantage of price... and since i wont be around i can stash money till i have everything ready for it then it can go to a guy i know all at one shot and be ready when i return.. STI has AWD but i plan on getting anoter 4wd truck so winter time means play toy is in the garage...
